as a Second Language (ESL) Program
The students receive orientation to the school
facilities and expectations, as well as community
information, orientation and academic support. The
classes provide information about Canadian culture and
laws.
- Placement testing
with the Composite Placement Test that is based on
the ESL standards of the British Columbia Ministry
of Education.
- Non-credit ESL
support.
- Quickly integrate
into participation-based courses.
- Academic course
enrolment is dependent on placement score and grades
or previous TOEFL scores from home country school.
- Cannot accommodate
international students with learning disabilities.
- Field trips.

Peer
Tutoring Program
Senior students provide classroom assistance to the
international students during ESL classes. In addition
to providing academic support, this helps to encourage
international student’s integration into the general
school population.

Second
Language Challenge Program
- Formal evaluation of
Grade 11 or 12 courses resulting in a percentage
mark.
- Obtain Grade 11 or
12 second language course credit without
participating in the course.
The Challenge Program enables students:
- To have course work
previously completed elsewhere evaluated for credit,
- To write an exam in
a subject in order to receive credit without having
to take the course work.

Career
Program
Courses that specifically help prepare students for
related college, university, technical training or
entry-level employment.
Work Experience where
students work with a community employer-sponsor to learn
about a career field of their choice.
